Advanced Technology

Using cutting-edge technology we can diagnose eye conditions in their early stages, which is not possible with regular eye exams. Many eye diseases, if detected early enough, can be prevented or treated successfully before the vision deteriorate permanently. We recommend annual total advanced eye health exam for everyone.

Below are some of the advanced technology that we use in our Advanced Total Compréhensive Eye Examination.

Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)

OCT is a quick, non-invasive, non-contact and painless procedure that revolutionized the way we diagnose and treat eye diseases. It provides fine details of each layer of the cornea and anterior segment of the eye, retina, and changes to the optic nerve.

As part of our preventative eye care, we incorporate screening OCT to our Advanced Total Eye Health Examination, therefore the eye conditions can be detected early to be treated in their early stages long before they become detectable by regular eye exams. Early detection is vital for early treatment and preventing vision loss.

OCT is used in the diagnosis of the diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration (AMD), macular oedema (accumulation of fluid within the retina), central serous retinopathy, macula hole, vitreomacular traction, other retinal disorders, glaucoma, medication toxicity, Keratoconus, pellucid marginal degeneration and other disorders of the cornea.

An Optical Coherence Tomography scan (OCT) is the latest advancement in imaging technology. Similar to ultrasound, this diagnostic technique employs light rather than sound waves to achieve higher resolution pictures of the structural layers of the back of the eye.

With an OCT scan, doctors are provided with color-coded, cross-sectional images of the retina, optic nerve, cornea and anterior segment of the eye. Using information obtained by OCT our doctor can detect the eye diseases in the early stage before they are become detectable by a regular eye exam.

Early detection is vital for early treatment and prevention.

Visual Field Testing

We use computerized instrument, called Humphrey Field Analyzer by Carl Zeiss globally recognized as gold standard for diagnosing and managing glaucoma.

Visual Field Analyzer is a none invasive sophisticated technology that  provides information regarding the location of any disease processes or lesion throughout the visual pathway , enabling your eye doctor to diagnose conditions such as glaucoma, stoke, brain tumour, brain hemorrhage and their exact location in the brain.

A visual field test measures how much 'side' vision you have. It is a straightforward test, painless, and does not involve eye drops. Essentially lights are flashed on, and you have to press a button whenever you see the light. Your head is kept still and you have to place your chin on a chin rest. The lights are bright or dim at different stages of the test. Some of the flashes are purely to check you are concentrating.

Each eye is tested separately and the entire test takes 15-45 minutes. Your eye doctor may ask only for a driving license visual field test, which takes 5-10 minutes.

Corneal Topography

Our cutting edge advanced corneal topographer, allows your eye doctor to diagnose and monitor abnormalities of the cornea such as Keratoconus. They are also able to create fully customized contact lenses enabling them to successfully fit individuals who have previously failed with standard contact lenses.

Digital Retinal Imaging

Digital Retinal Imaging allows your eye doctor to evaluate the health of the back of your eye, the retina. It is critical to confirm the health of the retina, optic nerve and other retinal structures. The digital camera snaps a high-resolution digital picture of your retina. This picture clearly shows the health of your eyes and is used as a baseline to track any changes in your eyes in future eye examinations.
